Real information and stories from Guanacaste , Costa Rica. Presneted by a long time expat living and working in Costa Rica
Costa Rica, Playa Hermosa Guanacaste. Atmospheric instability, Rain in the Dry Season?

Hello from Playa Hermosa,

Well it has been quite a while since I have put up a real post verses the automatic ones from my web page and those are just properties and to be honest those are pretty boring stuff, unless of course you happen to be looking or dream of a new place, than it’s all good. Now that I have had the day off basically, because my prospects canceled on me this morning, I said to myself no excuses write a post, So he we go. Actually I got some feedback about this, but heck come on, give me a break I am not author but a realtor. This is for fun information.

Yesterday afternoon I needed to get some supplies from the DO IT Center, this is kind of like a Home Depot / Lowes mega store with all sorts of item for repairs, maintenance and construction and so on. I actually call it the DON’T DO IT CENTER, because it seems every time I go there to get something they DON’T HAVE IT and I CAN’T DO IT. I guess it is just my dumb luck. Sorry I am digressing, so I headed to the Do It Center and the skies to the east were unseasonal cloudy, almost like the rainy season. After spending about an hour in the store and NOT finding what I needed, Go figure, I came outside and it was drizzling. This really blew me away. I have never seen or even heard about rains in February. Now it was not a lot, like in September or October, but the ground was wet.

So this morning I started hunting the local online newspapers and forums to see if this event was unique or I just missed it in the past years and came across this short article.

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), atmospheric instability affecting most of Costa Rica could cause intermittent showers and cloudy skies in the Central Valley and in the Caribbean region.  IMN meteorologist Daniel Poleo said he expected an increase in cloudy conditions, primarily in San José and the northwestern province of Guanacaste between Thursday and Saturday. The Central and South Pacific will have clear skies while the Northern Zone will be partially cloudy. An increase in winds is expected on Saturday in most of the country, and IMN forecasts maximum temperatures in the Central Valley will reach highs of 30 degrees Celsius and lows of 10 degrees. February rain is not typical as Costa Rica’s dry season runs from December through May.

I guess you can claim “Its Global Warming”, but that is what the tree huggers will say as they like to use any example to push their cause. Just ask Al Gore, you know the guy that invented the internet. Then you have the other side, kind of where I stand. Not too far right but definitely not too left either. Let me explain my crazy thinking a bit and then you can agree or disagree.

The planet is how old? I checked with Wikipedia and it says 4.54 BILLION years old. Then I check how long has man been on the plant?  Well the oldest human fossil found (named Lucy and found in Ethiopia) has been back dated to between 3 and 3.6 million years ago. So the planet had no recorded humans (So far as something new can be discovered) for almost a Billion Years.  Lucy was not a Homo Sapien, but science does know that she was a hominid walking upright. Then I looked for how long has weather been recorded? NOAA ( National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration)  states that in 1644 the Reverend John Campanius Holms made the first systematic recordings of the weather. Ok so Atmospheric conditions have been recorder for 369 years.  That means that nothing was recorded for almost 4.539 BILLION years, kind of like the budget of some government agency claiming there is global warming. Yes there is now scientific ways to look into the past, and see what really happened on this planet over the years and it has been proved that the last 12 years were the warmest every reordered in modern times It has been reported that there were periods of warning and cooling. But most will never tell you that this “GLOBAL WARNING”, happened before. It is all hype in my mind.

This is right off the NOAA web site:

2012 global temperatures are 10th highest on record
According to NOAA scientists, the globally-averaged annual combined land and ocean surface temperature in 2012 was 1.03°F (0.57°C) above the 20th-century average of 57.0°F (13.9°C). The annual report also found that all 12 years of the 21st century (2001-2012) rank among the 14 warmest in the 133-year period of record.

Click the link above they even dispute their own findings HA!  It is all just Hype

Well I think I wrote enough to make some friends crazy and upset and screaming at me (Hi Richard and Linda), Hope they still like me, and few are now thinking well he may have a point and is on the right track (Hi Fred).

All I know and really care about is today is a beautiful day in Playa Hermosa the sky is clear and the sun is shining and there is no rain and I still love living here, even if I can’t find what I need at the DO IT Center

As always, thanks to my steady followers for stopping by my blog.
