Half Way Done with the Rainy Reason!
Well I have been pretty lax with writing about the weather,
been busy, but I still record the rain fall we received here in Playa Hermosa
as this hobby of mine will never end.
As you may or may not know the rainy season can start
sometime in late April or not even till the end of June and runs usually till
the first or second week of November. But a few years ago we had light rain
fall as late as the 3rd of December, but that was a fluke year. So I
thought today I would let you know where we stand year to day with the rain
fall in Playa Hermosa.
As of today we have received a total of 24.4 inches of rain.
The first rain was Friday May third and here is a breakdown of the past few
months. May the total rain fall was 6.4 inches of rain, June was a bit better,
depending on how you look at it, we received 10.5 inches and for the month of
July, which we get out “little summer” as the Ticos call it and usually less
rain, we received 7.5 inches of rain.
As you may know the heaviest rain will fall in September and
October, which corresponds to the Atlantic hurricane season, but the good news
is we don’t get the hurricanes!! Just the rain and our yearly averages have been
between 40 and 60 inches per year.
A little past rainfall history if you really care: 2010 there
was 88.65 inches, 2011 was 73.7 inches and 2012 we got 51.3 inches. I unfortunately
did not back up my last computer property and lost the information for 2008 and
2009.
So half way thru and let’s see what comes the next 3 months.
