The Nature of Playa Ocotal
Playa Ocotal's black sand beach is much smaller than its neighbor, Playas del Coco, but it is absolutely stunning. This lush landscape is loaded with howler monkeys and beautiful birds. Ocotal beach is perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving! You will see so many tropical fish, plenty of turtles and maybe even a giant manta ray. After a refreshing snorkel, you can relax in Playa Ocotal's clear waters and embrace the wildlife around you. During low tide, you can explore numerous tide pools and see wonderfully colorful fish. This great beach offers endless nature filled experiences.
Dining around Playa Ocotal
Although Playa Ocotal is a small beach, there are still many fantastic dining options! One of the most well-known restaurants in the area is Father Roosters. You can enjoy cocktails and an excellent menu right on the beach! Father Rooster is the premier beachfront bar and grill in town and it is situated along the north end of Ocotal beach. Enjoy the wonderfully bright red and purple colors of a rainy season sunset while sipping a frozen tropical drink, munching on their famous nachos, or enjoying the fresh mahi-mahi tacos. Another great restaurant is the Maracuya Beach Club, set above the ocean in the surrounding bluffs offering incredible ocean views. The Maracuya Beach Club is part of the Bahia Pez Vela Resort. Other restaurants include La Caveja, a lovely little Italian restaurant located in the heart of the town of Ocotal offering fantastic pizzas. As well as Sugoi Mexican & Asian Cuisine located in the Coco Bay Estates development. Since Playa Ocotal is located only minutes away from Coco beach, you will never run out of dining options.
