Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste Costa Rica, Daily Weather Report. Friday, October 19, 2012

Good Morning from Play Hermosa Guanacaste, Costa Rica.  I am thankful that I chose this area to live in Costa Rica. Besides being the direst area of Costa Rica, the towns of Playa Hermosa, Playa del Coco, Playa Panama and Ocotal are composed of primarily volcanic rock which allows heavy rain to seep in to the ground very easily as it is very porous so we do not have problem with major land slides or flooding, especially during the months of September and October when we get the most rain. Since our mountains/ hills are very close to the ocean all the excess water that the land cannot hold just runs to the ocean thru estuaries. I have to go to Flamingo today to check on a property of a client of mine. I was told it was non-stop heavy rain for two and half days down there and there were some landslides and some roads closed. I need to check this unit because last time this occurred in Flamingo the unit was flooded inside and it is on the 3 floor. It rained so hard and long that the water made its way under the door flashings and over the threshold.  What is truly amazing about this Country is all the micro climates and how different they are and can be only 1 mile away from each other. So far this year we have received 37.450 inches of rain at my house. Our averages are 40-60 inches a year, se we are creeping up on the low end of the aveage.

Yesterday, Thursday  October 18, 2012   recap of yesterday---It rained and boy did it rain! As I wrote yesterday it was pouring pretty hard early in the morning. By the time I left the house and posted the report we had received close to 1.2 inches of rain by 6:30 AM. Throughout the day there was periodic heavy down pours then nothing. The sun poked thru once and a while the high temp made it to 84OF. We received at my House 2.7 inches of rain for the day. Other parts of the area received much more.

This will be easy! RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, and possibly some more rain. The morning low was 72oF and the afternoon high will be 83oF . There is a good chance that it may rain all day as there is a tropical depression out over the Pacific Ocean. This really does not happen all that often, only in the months of September and October, our heavy rainy season. I know you are thinking, “Well that’s pretty easy to forecast the weather” You Know your right but I at least can let people know what’s going on, especially those that are interested.

Today, Friday  October 19, 2012

The morning low was, as it has been for the past couple of days, is 72OF. Today’s high will be 86O F under partly cloudy skies. As of writing this (6:00 am) the clouds are starting to already break up. There is about a 40% chance of rain today as the tropical depression has moved north over Nicaragua. As always there could be a pop up thunderstorm or late afternoon shower during this time of the year.

See you tomorrow, have a great day no matter were in the world you are and my the sun be bright and the temperature just perfect for you.
