Introduction to Playa Panama

Playa Panama is a black sand beach, just north of Playa Hermosa and only about 15 minutes from LIR International Airport (LIR). Panama has a few hotels, a very small town (pueblito) and several well-situated developments with commanding views of the Papagayo bay. Playa Panama is very quite, without a main town or many restaurants. It’s a great beach for swimming, walking, exercising your dogs or just relaxing. There are very few people, and it is not commercial or overbuilt at all.
With its protected position on southeast side of Bahia Culebra (Snake Bay), Playa Panama's waters are great for swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, sailing, fishing and many other fun water activities. The ocean is sometimes so calm it looks like a lake. Additionally, the Papagayo region's abundance of great weather makes this beach a great location to take a long leisurely walk as the beach is over two and a half kilometers long.
Once a very remote and hard to reach beach with almost nothing in way of development, Panama Beach in Guanacaste has changed over the past few decades as the Papagayo region continues to add new developments. With only a few developments of upscale single family custom homes, and well thought out stylish condominiums, this is still a very quiet place to get away from it all and still be connected.
Playa Panama is within close proximity to Hermosa Beach and Playas del Coco; a mere ten minute drive away on a paved road. There are numerous national parks in the region including the famous Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Palo Verde National Park and Santa Rosa National Park all within a short drive.
